Day 2 began with freshness and ethnicity with designer duo Payal Singhal and Malini Agarwala showcasing their respective collections. While Payal Singhal presented her line of ethereal Resort Bridal wear, Malini Agarwala’s “Kawzulu” collection, showed bags and accessories with heavy influence of African tribal art. With a view to target summer brides and destination weddings, the collections featured a lot of georgettes, brocades, tulle and taffetas in an interesting mix of pastel colors like mint, blush and sand with rich colors like purple, emerald and turmeric.
The highlight of Payal’s collection is that individual elements of a bridal ensemble can be used on a standalone basis later thus enabling the wearer to make maximum use of her wedding attire instead of locking it away. The bags and accessories showed prominent use of bead work, metal and geometric embroidery and embellishments woven with fabric and leather. The showstopper for the segment was actress Vidya Malvade who looked stunning in a beautiful neckpiece of pebbles, stones and beads.
Pune’s very own Nivedita Saboo presented her collection titled “Majestic Realms”, consisting of trendy outfits which oozed royalty and are a perfect choice for regal themed bridal attire. The collection featured lehengas, sherwanis and Salwar Kameez in pastel and rich jewel toned. Popular bollywood actors, Randeep Hooda and the gorgeous Karishma Kapoor looked amazing as showstoppers for the segment.
Day 3 of the fashion week was full of entertainment complete with drama, glamour and gliteratti. Bollywood celebrities Gauhar Khan and Aditi Rao Hyadri walked the ramp in some amazing outfits. The scissor man Adam Saaks displayed worked some of his magic in front of a live audience as he transformed a tee shirt into a designer blouse on model and actress Sarah Jane Dias.
The heavy bridal ensembles were sensibly balanced with Shraddha Nigam and Mayank Anand’s collection of breezy dresses, and tunics in bright colors like sea blue, lime green and orange.
The grande finale of the fashion week was marked by popular bollywood designer Vikram Phadnis who presented an interesting mix of options for bridal and resort wear.
The outfits were made in net, georgette, linen, voil and pashmina fabrics in shades of cream, gold and black, making these outfits an ideal option for the summer bride.
