The traditional Indian wedding didn’t have a cake! Yes that’s true! But with changes to the way weddings are planned, mix of cultures and traditions, the Indian wedding now is not complete without a cake.

The traditional white wedding cake however, is modified to suit the more colorful and vibrant environment of Indian wedding celebrations. These cakes are very often characterized by traditional Indian patterns like paisleys, Indian motifs and henna designs. Instead of white, more rich Indian colors like red, gold, purple, fuschia and orange are incorporated to keep with the “Indian” feel.

Keeping in sync with the trend of theme weddings, wedding cakes can also be customized by incorporating colors or elements of the theme. Indian wedding cakes can be very creative and artistic and can be anything from lamps with custom jeweled accents or complete with elephants and carriages for a royal theme or even custom made for a peacock theme. The color and design of the cake fondant of course, would be very detailed and intricate to resemble the bridal mehndi design or even a great idea - the embroidery and colors of the bride and groom’s outfits. To further enhance the Indian feel of your wedding cake, there are many cute and funky cake toppers available today. Think – a custom made cake topper of you and your groom in your wedding attire!

One of the most fun parts of the wedding planning, is choosing your cake and of course the cake tasting! Have fun, go all out and enjoy the process!
