One of our favorite parts of the wedding planning process is assisting with the brides wardrobe. In Indian weddings, the typical bridal wardrobe is huge - with a minimum of 4 functions up to maybe 9 functions - thats a whole lot of outfits! Not to mention trousseau shopping! A whole lot of fun!
Traditionally, the Indian bride wears red. But this season we are seeing a lot of more muted, pastel shades - nudes, blush pink, powder blue and other similar colors. If the bride feels she does need to wear red, it can be incorporated into her outfit somewhere - a little dash of red. Manish Malhotra, designer to the Bollywood stars in a recent article spoke about bridal style this season being back to classic - where volume will replace excess embroidery. We like that! He also mentioned that you will see a lot of silver and practically no gold, as well as Chikankari and Kashmiri work is also in right now.
This is great news for our summer brides! Finally something classic, elegant, yet traditional that you can breathe in!
As Manish summed it up - 2009 was an amalgamation of colors, 2010 was all about jewel tones and deep hues and 2011 is set to be classic and minimalistic.
