Welcome gift ideas for your Indian wedding

So, you are planning a destination wedding and stressing over the many details that go into planning it? Well don’t forget – guest hospitality and those little touches matter the most in a destination wedding. Your guests have taken the time and effort out of their lives to come and spend your special weekend with you – well now you better take care of them and make them feel at welcome and comfortable.

An all time favorite is having a hamper of goodies sit in each guest room on guest arrival. The basket could have some snacks for your guests to munch on, toiletries (don’t forget the sunscreen!) for their trip, chocolates for that midnight craving and some drinks to keep them hydrated. The fun stuff however is adding those extra bits – mostly exclusive to the destination itself.

Planning a destination wedding in India? How about a sarong & flip flops for a Goa wedding? Or a lovely Indian shawl for a wedding up north in Rajasthan? Also, pick some edible treats that are unique to India – maybe some Indian snacks or sweets, and even some delectable Indian tea. You could even put in a map of the area with the fun stuff that they must do or see. A great way to incorporate this – is create a personalized map with the couple’s favorite places – restaurants, bars, shops, must sees!

When thinking of your packaging, you could stay away from the usual baskets which guests usually leave behind anyway. Think about using a brown paper bag instead and personalize it or a recycled paper bag with an Indian design. Or you could use an Indian potli fabric bag, which can be reused later. Something interesting like this, and you can be sure it will be carried back home by your guests.

And last, but not the least, don’t forget your welcome note and thank you note! Have fun putting together your welcome gifts!
